Banham Zoo provides an excellent day out for the family and has been voted, by 'Which' magazine, amongst the top 3 zoos in the UK.

The attractions include big cats, sea life, monkey business, bird of prey displays, and animals in action. Children and their parents can also get the opportunity to touch and feed some of the animals in the farm barn and, listen to talks presented by the zoo staff.

The classic British comedy series which started in 1967 was filmed on location in and around Thetford after the BBC obtained permission to film at Stanford Practical Training Area.

Various places in Thetford were used for filming as well as surrounding villages such as Honnington, Bardwell, Wacton Bressingham, Brandon, Santon Downham, and Weybourne.

The Wereham House Hotel therefore makes a great base to explore the Dad's Army Trail and there is now a Dad's Army museum in Thetford to visit.
